Dr. Ben Mackin grew up in a small fishing village just south of Boston, MA, but thanks to his mother, a speech pathologist, he has always been able to pronounce his r's. After graduating with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2003, Dr. Ben spent many wonderful years working at various animal hospitals in San Diego, Boulder, and Denver. He moved to the Roaring Fork Valley to be near good friends and enjoy the mountain life in 2004. As an associate veterinarian at Aspen Animal Hospital, Carbondale Animal Hospital, and Valley Emergency Pet Care with friend and mentor Scott Dolginow, his practice style and desire for ownership became clear.
In early 2007, Dr. Ben purchased Carbondale Animal Hospital and began living out his dream of building a small town veterinary practice that catered to the vision he faithfully follows: Provide compassionate, practical animal care through modern medical and surgical services in a welcoming hospital setting. Seventeen years later, he is still living his dream.
